Where I blog from

Well well- this is good game! I have really enjoyed seeing where my fellow bloggers come up with their blogs. Tyler had this brilliant idea, and it seems to be catching on.

So I'm running late for work, so here is a quick post of my 'space'. I already showed pictures of my bedroom a while back, but didn't include where I actually blog from. So the 'other' side of the room is my desk where I blog from:

It's not usually messy; I wouldn't say I'm a neat freak, but I prefer things to be tidy. This is true except for my floor-- for some reason I have a lot of trouble getting clothes in the hamper... they tend to just collect on the floor in the bedroom/bathroom.

Recently, I have been spending more time at work. I enjoy my office, because we don't have full cubicles-- we have 'half cubes' so that we can communicate with out team without problem. We all would NEVER want to go to a cubicle environment. I am very happy about having three monitors-- its the right number so that my whole field of vision is taken up. That's right- I'll show em off if I want to :p

Lastly, when I'm not killing myself at work, I like to relax and watch movies, etc. in my living room. I haven't ever blogged from here, but I do spend some time here (when work isn't crazy). I haven't sat on one of these couches in over two weeks though :-( All work and no play makes Steve a dull boy.

I really love that art above the TV- it is this gay guy in Australia named Sej. He is AWESOME! Oh and the funniest thing was he shipped it just in the normal mail to me in the US. And when I got it, there wasn't like a 'shipping label' like you would expect from FedEx or UPS. Instead, there were like 75 stamps on there-- just normal Australian stamps that added up to like over $30... it looked comical there were so many! Do you Aussies not have like shipping services? :-) I wish I had taken a picture...

So I will tag the following (for rules see Tyler's post):

So now you're obligated to oblige! I'm not going to be nice about it with the "well you don't have to"-- you have been tagged!! This is just part of life, there are rules :-)

Much Love,
Steve

Interesting to see the yellow pad. Sometimes it's easier to write things out longhand and convenient to have them available without having to click away from where you are.

yes- I agree. The challenge of course if being able to read what I've written at a later time. I have incredible poor penmanship.

Tasteful living room. I've also got the same issue of Wired stacked up somewhere on my coffee table. Is it a little creepy that I recognized that from a blurry picture?

... and is that a ficus? Did you steal that from your office? :-P

I get, and understand the open office environment. In fact, I go work in one of our bullpens off of the main lab floor whenever things are really busy. However, I like that I can go back to my office, close the door, literally shut out all distraction, and just decompress or focus on something if I need to.

I need to get more artwork... maybe I'll spend my token "we didn't forget about you but couldn't give you any REAL money" raise on eBay.

See where I blog from on my blog.

@Mirrorboy
Thanks! MB you're always welcome if you find yourself homeless in Memphis... which many do, apparently.

@Gauss
Yes that is impressive that you recognized Wired-- I believe this is the most recent issue, but yea they pile up there :-) and sure its a ficus! My old roommate wanted some 'green' in the room. I am too lazy to move it, and really have nothing to replace it with.

@Torchy
Yes...I had to buy my own USB graphics adapter to run it, and then just snag an extra monitor when one came available.

@Jeremy
In fairness, I do have a cleaning lady that had just come the day before. I know this makes me sound incredibly lazy...but honestly its worth the money.

@x
well thats sad, but understandable. However, once you make your first million, I will expect you to go buy one and fulfill the 'tag' :-)

Thanks for the comments guys!

Steve
